This is simply a test run to get some photos posted. Some of this news is a repeat for most so bear with me please until I get caught up with myself
It has been a week since we arrived in our little town of Melaque and most surprised to see how this end of town was hardly affected except the canal next door which brought a mud slide and fallen trees out to the ocean as well as the foot bridge across to the campground.
This is quite a bit of plastic garbage along the fences but we pick up a bicycle basket each time out. Construction and restoration is at an all time high, even in the heat of the day--85-90 degrees.
San Patricio, Obergon and Cihuatlan the next three villages were not so lucky, lots of destruction and damage, many left without homes.
The little English church we attend San Patricio by the Sea was very active through the first weeks after the storm, laundering, cooking, cleaning, feeding and delivering groceries.
At present we wait for the next needs assessment and will go where they send us.
Rotary in Barra are also very much involved and we have been invited to their meeting on Wednesday, so hopefully we can pitch in.
We go back to Puerta Vallarta next Sat to pick up Willard and Ellen from the airport so will do a big shop for what is on the needs list.... diapers, both adult and infant, school supplies ( 287 students from primary to senior in surrounding district in need of complete replacement kits) and those families certainly cannot afford to buy those supplies right now.
