We just put Bob and Doreen on their PV bus here, their plane takes them directly from PV to Comox and they will be home this evening, rather unbelievable.
In their week here, we managed to get back to La Manz and report that the sand is returning!! and some of the hurricane rocks removed. The boardwalk is now open over the lagoon and we had an up close look at the baby crocs, some teenage ones and some very old sleepers! They report 400 in total this year. We had been told 200 a few weeks ago so their recovery program is obviously working.
The town is restored to its happy clean place, hard workers there.
Another day was spent on the canals in Barra and a lunch at Fortinas on Isla Barridad where we reconnected with Adrien and arranged a 6 hour day on the water with him. What a great young fellow; works his uncle's fish farm in the daytime and another uncle's bar at night. He takes time off from the fish farm to take folks out on the open water and tour up the coast as far as La Manz. My upcoming posted photos will be better than my description. The major highlight of the day was the dolphin extravazanga!! 100 wonderful swimmers and jumpers followed along both sides of the boat and crisscrossed in front and behind us. Unfortunately I was gazing and not taking photos. If you would like to see the show, go to www.tomzappmelaque and read the post from yesterday "fishing report".
Continued great food and fun, now on a card game challenge 80 cent rummy which is delightful on the rooftop at night, I think I am the longest running loser in this game!
The markets are getting bigger every week, this one in Obergon filled six blocks and the whole soccer field on Wed. They move to Barra on Thursdays, La Manz on Fridays and Autlan on Saturdays; hard working people, setting up and taking down every day. They report that the tourists are not as numerous as in years past. We are wondering if the media is a part of the problem.... never follow up on the good progress that happens after their "bad" news stories.
The camarones are at their best, we did a wonderful dinner at home with the help of the Pattersons peeling a kilo of them. Bueno!!
Weather is still the bonus here, high 20s in the daytime and now cooling down nicely at night. The afternoon swim is becoming a challenge, end up with pelicans and frigates diving all around us so we must swim earlier so we are not part of their buffet table!! Tuesday was a particularly busy time as the silver fish were on a jumping frenzy, right over our heads, got Doreen in a giggle session!!
