However, our move 5 hours north of Melaque has us in different vegetation with a bit more moisture in the air. I love the palm trees and ocean view from our bed, all rooms, balconies and palapa of our casita.
Dave has been out hiking through pineapple plantations and a papaya orchard. The hiking group leaves at 7 am on Mon, Wed and Fri and hits a different hill each day. I'll just enjoy his photos. I went out and about with Gayle on her morning chores, met Roque who has a restaurant here but spends most of his time in Sante Fe at his world famous taco restaurant on their square. Small world, ate there with the Habitat group in 2009. Details got finalized as this guy is providing free dinner for the volunteer vets and helpers on the next spay and neuter clinic, another example of community at work . Then we went to her friends in Los Ayla, just around the bluff from Guayabitos and what a holiday casa she has! back to the furniture maker to pick up a repaired chair
My hike was through town with Dave yesterday afternoon, revisiting shops and their friendly owners, then down to Los Brisas on the beach for cerveza . We watched the pelicans and terns for an hour and then the fisherman in a different shaped boat than they use down south but the same loading and beaching routine. Fresh fish from them for dinner this evening, trying out a recipe from cooking class.. filet with salsa, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed, yum. Our hosts provide the banana leaves from their lovely garden.
We're getting our daily 4 o'clock swim but I'm wondering if it is wearing off our intake! These Happy Hours are building some sad body shapes!
Not sure what the all-inclusive in Punta Cana will do to us!!! RESTRAINT I say
