Sedona to Rockhound Park

Feb17, 2013

After leaving Sedona, we checked out Tucson and head to Catalina State Park. You should see the saguaro cacti!! Will add photos later.
From there we drove through Benson, remembering good experiences at Kartchner Caverns from our last trip, then to Sunsites.
Folks from Alberni have a place here and I can understand why.... Lots of possibilities for day hikes, biking and history to keep one busy. This is Cochise and Geronamo country

Must not to forget the great bird watching all the way south from the I-10.
This is one of the largest migratory stopovers both north and south. Got some great shots of hawks and roadrunners but the sandhill cranes eluded us.

Half way up the mountain

Some of the incredible rocks that folks are encouraged to take, 15 pound limit.

Neat design for the info center

Top of the paddy agave plant

We found them all

Labyrinth calmed everyone!

THE SAGUERO CACTI

Next night at Rockhound State Park just south of Deming, New Mexico. We sure can understand why rockhounders spend so much time here. We head to the hills but found no "eggs". This is the first park we have been to where the instructions say, "Do not stay on the trails".
