Another week has flown by, how is that possible?

Enjoying dinners with friends we have met here over the years as well as with folks from Port Alberni who are here for five weeks.

A real treat/ surprise happened Sat evening. We were in Barra , enjoying the sunset from the rooftop on the fifth floor at Alonders and learned that our little man we met four years ago, at the age of 16 was now the proud owner of his own restaurant on the second floor of the same building and proudly gives credit to his Mom who does the cooking.
When he saw us, he invited us for dinner, drinks on the house. And what a meal.... I had my favorite, rollo del mar, and it was ever bit as good as what his auntie cooked for us at Fortunas in Colamilla!

At the age of 16, he was working three jobs... His family's fish farm , a tour / fishing guide boat and in his uncle's bar. We knew he was an up and coming business man!
For all you Canadians who have visited us here, you may remember him as your tour boat guide.
We will be wearing our golf shirts with pride to help promote El Marino, Barra de Navidad!

Our weekly trip to La Manzanillo on Mondays is another highlight each week. We  catch the 9:40 bus, park ourselves at Letty's , her restaurant is named Guacamole, swim, have lunch, swim, pick up our deli treats from Mariscos and head home on the 3:30. Guacamole Restaurant remains our best memory of our winters in La Manz.

Pedro is where we frequent for a good fish taco and the entertainment he provides as he becomes "fisher of clients" out on the beach in front.

Pilates classes are only two days a week this year and Michelle, our instructor donates all the proceeds from her Saturday classes to Villa Pineal. In addition, five or six of the women from the class cook meals for the 38 migrant children who have arrived this year. Dr Rosa does a free clinic one day a week out there and has spear headed projects to improve the quality of life for these folks. Washing machine is now in place, thanks to her efforts. Other ladies from the class offer their time to bathe the children when they come from the fields, before their lunch and time at school..
And thanks to a very generous Canadian, we have two teachers hired as well for the school.
Michelle's Tuesday pilate fees are donated to the schools in town.

Water aerobics back in full swing in the bay now that the red tide has left. Yeah!!!

Tues art class and Thursday bridge , Sunday service and Thurs study group at San Patricio By The Sea, round off our interests and energetic Dave is up to 50 kms, twice a week on his bike  so I guess that explains how the time flies!

We are soooooo spoiled!
Pura vida
