Arrived in England

Off to the traveler 'go with the flow' mode.

Flight delayed a bit, arrived Gatwick at noon , our Gatwick Express to London canceled so took the slow train to St Pancreas, giving four minutes to get tickets for our Folkstone run. The internet was down so no credit card purchase, cash only . We were ten pounds short so a little scramble upstairs to another ticket kiosk. Then breezed onto the hi speed train.

An hour later we are sitting in Emma's living room drinking tea and getting all caught up with Leah, Sam and  Luca. What a delightful family who are so gracious to share their new home with us.
This was their last day of school so we all know what that means. I am hearing a lot of 'woo' from the neighbourhood, children and parents!
Emma is sorting her gifts from her Kindergarten class..chocolates, roses, cut flowers, scented candles, wine etc etc.brings back memories heh?

Off to watch the boys share their new football skills.
July 22  boys just got awesome summer haircuts, all ready for a 1920s wedding tomorrow, now we are setting out for Harbour Park. They tell me the highlights are the pancakes and ice cream!

July 24. A wonderful Sunday at the lake with the family. We drove 90 minutes southeast of the city, parked and hiked a km where Jonas picked a very quiet spot for us. Kids were the first ones in, then Georg, then Dave, all saying BRR but when Dave said it Sproat Lake, I took the plunge. So refreshing.
On our return hike, we stopped at Cafe En See for typical Bavarian cakes. Yum!

The auto route was a huge traffic jam because of an accident so we took some country roads to get home. What beautiful countryside, traditional homes with barns attached but in a different style than Claudia's parents.

Peppers stuffed with meatballs in  a yummy sauce  another Claudia special.
Georg downloaded all the maps of the cities we will be touring, I am so grateful. It seems gone are the days of paper maps! Ha!
