9:45 departure pick up Hotel Lucia. Hutteldorfer St 79 at 8:45

Once again, our pick up was right on the minute!
This Viator is one great booking company, one is able to book directly on line, print tour voucher and away you go!!

Appearing to be another hot day already but our shuttle drive tells us rain is coming, then a sauna!
Starting point. Little Parliament building then the big tour began at Laxenburger Strass and Wiedner right beside Central Train Station, transferred to a double decker bus, Dave in the back door, up the stairs while I checked us in. The lady beside us from Isreal taught us that trick!
Good grief, same guide as yesterday, big welcome hug for me from the man with the yellow glasses, Tonia!
Leaving the city, on to the autobahn to follow the Danube to Spitz.
Danube Tower 252 m high with a revolving restaurant on top
3 hills on right after tunnel belong to the chain of the Alps, just foothills... Leopoldberg, ...abbeys from 11th century, subterrian lake.
CharlesVI from Spain to become Emperor of Austria bringing the architecture to this church here right on the Danube and the Spanish Riding School in Vienna
30 year war between Catholics and Protestants, abbey damaged.
Krems, town surrounded by terraced vineyards, wineries, 80 percent white wine, 20 percent red wine., region of Wachau, meaning the area between Krems and Spitz
Augustine Monk  Abbey
Apricot plantations, bought apricot schnapps.
Krems very rich town because of horse pulling boats on Danube, boarded at Spitz at 11:45 after buying a Magnum for Gerald !, 90 minute cruise, good Austrian beer, Kaiser, a small one for me and a large for Dave

Prison on top of cliff. Choice given...leap to death or starve to death!

- [ ] Rather warm today. Decided to go across a light grey deck in bare feet, quickly returned but too late... Burnt soles! Immersing feet in a cold  water toilet bowl solved the sizzle! Not to be repeated!
Feet were tender for the rest of the day.

- [ ] Castles and villages all the way to Melk
- [ ] Melk Monastry has a library housing 100,000 titles and is a science research centre.
- [ ] One of the oldest.
- [ ] Lunch at the abbey, yummy schnitzel, last chance as we leave Austria in the morning.
- [ ] Sunday a travel day so no post until Tuesday evening from Florence.
