This is a story of a very hard working family we met three years ago at Dan and Rosemarie/s. They were there with Margot. who had taken them home with her one year to Fort St John for six months on a visitor visa/ Total immersion for a young lady who knew absolutely no English and a young man who had high aspirations for his family.
Alex is in school already.Little brother wants to be there too
a clap will bring the goats home
Generous donations from our visiting Port Alberni friends makes as exciting day for them, a big contribution to the goat herd they are raising on property high in the hills behind Haluco
We had the honor of meeting at their place on the road into Barra and heading up into those hills. through a sandy river bed, a road which is impassable in the wet season,
Raising chicks to lay eggs for the family
Farmer Dave would probably stay and be a goat herder for him
These will be meat birds....pollo asado
Starting trees to take back to their property. papaya and avacado
Just fed these puppies, good job Amilio
Water needs to be transported up to the farm through the dry season. Next dream is to build a cistern to hold some of the vast amount of water from the wet season
I called this photo the three asses
Another new friend. Not every day one gets to have an eye to eye conversation with a Brahma bull!
Thank you Martin family
Eventually Dave will get the rest of your family up here
OK , here are two more of you
and the last two but the silly goats moved away... tired of waiting
And here are our grandchildren's Christmas gifts to Alex and Amilio.
Hugs from Kaiya, Drayson and Garrett
The herder who stays up in he mountain keeping watch has a very simple kitchen
and this guy keeps the grounds immaculate
Has built miles of fences. protecting their banana tree, keeping the in goats and the wild animals out.
Now that is an avacado!
They have two donkeys , Alex uses them to hunt more food for his family
wee one heard that the water arrived
First the girls get herded in for water
Then the boys
I personally like the black bellied breed
