Happy New Year, Jan 1, 2015
Costalegra had its sky filled with fireworks and luminaries for a few hours last night. What a festive family tradition.
As we sat at the beach with friends at midnight, we smiled at the concept of "live and let live".
No police, no obvious barrachos and six year olds setting off Roman candles and probably ten year olds with the larger fireworks, all in an orderly fashion, one at a time going to the waterline and delighting in their accomplishments.
Meanwhile, little bon fires were burning in the sand and folks used them to heat their luminaries which rose majestically into the sky and were carried out over the bay.
Music is blaring from all the restaurants along the beach, dancers living it up and all is well, a genuine sense of peace takes us back home to dance in our own living room to the fine voice of Franceso and Dave Cole next door at the Conche Del Mar.
This was all after an incredible evening at two house parties. Sue and Jack outdid themselves again this year from 6-8 drinks and appies in their lovely courtyard and patio for how many people??? could be 70!
Then to a friends home to join them and their Mexican overseer, must admit to the first New Years that we spoke Spanish for most of the evening, what a treat! A game of Rummy Tiles and then to the beach for the midnight spectacle.
Feliz Ano can be heard all along the streets as families sit out around tables enjoying their traditional meal for the evening.
Feliz Ano a todos.
