In good old Melaque!
Dave continues to be an early riser so gets all his exercises and beach walk-in before seven, makes coffee and then off to his nine o'clock Spanish class. I head to the ocean for water aerobics at nine Mon, Wed and Fri as I have been kicked out of Spanish class!
Actually, I got bumped to the next level which meets at 10:30 so that works out fine. EXCEPT the other four people in this class are very smart! I feel some brain strain and by the time I get home at noon, tempted to have a cerveza!
Oh well, it is all worth it in preparation for South America next year, will have to learn some Portugese for Brazil however.
I chuckle as I think of our purchase in Tonala. For our 40th anniversary, we thought something special from here would be a treat. I had chosen a set of pottery dishes last year and was told they could be shipped in a wooden crate. It almost happened but then I started feeling guilty because of all the wonderful potters in Port Alberni I could be patronizing, so it did not happen.
Back to the wonderful shop but this time my concern was in the actual shipping, so heavy and would it really get there? Not for the dishes but some accessories not available at home.
Down the street was the barbeque I feel in love with last year in La Penita, a handsome pig! Photo posted in Jan blog. In addition there were three pig planters! So, this is the shipping test!!!
Will they arrive in two weeks? Two months? Two years?? In two hundred pieces???
If this passes the test, who knows about the other lovely things for next year?
So, for all you Whacky Melaque folks for the bbq in July, our place on the pig!! Or the gas bbq, depending!!
Today is Revolution Day and all the communities are celebrating in their own way. Parade in Barra this morning enroute to my Spanish class and all the vendors are setting up in the jardin for a big party at six, looking forward to tamales and flan.
Weather continues to be a bonus, about ten degrees warmer tahn in Guadalajara and a bit more humid. My Mexican towels are a challenge, as all our guests can attest to so those still to come, you may want to throw a towel that actually dries, into your suitcase.
Thanks for all the emails folks, it is so good to stay connected even though we run away.
We love to get your news.
Will try to post once a week from here on.
