Palm Springs and surrounding area for hikes

Feb 3, 2013

LA was great, entered the big city and was parked at the Crochets by 4 o'clock so missed the major Friday rush hour.
Camille did his usual magic in the kitchen and Edna insisted we have a sleepover! What wonderful folks, as we were joined by Nini, Tim, Fonnie and David and caught up with Jeff in the morning.
We were treated to a new venue for breakfast, Tarte Tati, YUM!! an Isreali restaurant with the infamous inverted pie.

Left the big city in good time to avoid traffic again, head east on the I-10 for a stop at Cabazon and our favorite factory outlets.

Arrived in Palm Springs and set up for a few days at Happy Travelers RV park right beside the mountains.
Port Albernians arrived at the airport at 8 and settled into their resort in Cathedral City. We biked over for a visit, great bike paths throughout the city and 8 miles later, sitting on their patio enjoying some good laughs. Biked back on a different route, a little longer and actually had some hills. Revisited lots of spots from our previous six visits and memories flooded back of all our happy times with Miss Kaiya. The first time was Spring break at the Marriott with a six week old . The second time was Christmas of that same year, she was delivered to us at Welk Resorts. When the doorbell rang, a little ten month old was sittting in the hallway all by herself. Her parents were tucked around the corner to see the reaction, and what a reaction it was!
Then Fonnie's wedding and the phone call I received from Shannon, " Mom, I lost Dad". when we biked down that street today, Dave remarked how long his walk had been!
And now for the hikes, we meet Bob, Dianna, Dennis and Elaine in the morning to try a few trails in the Indian Canyons. My wish is for a little overcast day but will not complain if it is full sun.
