So the trekkers left at 8 in the morning , the driver took them to the head of the trail and returned for me with my own personal guide at 10 am. So while Dave is working his buns off, I am being escorted around by two good looking Peruvian men for three days. I could get used to this kind of travel!!
While waiting for my driver in Ollanytantambo, I did a walk about, checking local life.
These are forms used to hold the second level of a building, just dumped on the street between the water channel and the traffic
Mother walking her little one to the market
Collectivos bring the vendors to the market square
Laying out the morning picking of corn and other fresh produce
Typical woman's hat for this area. each district is distinguished by a different shaped hat.
Cloud lifting from the ruins of Ollanytantambo
Tourists, tourists, tourists... their high season is just ramping up. We noticed in our hotel all new mattresses, bedding and bathroom tiling and fixtures. the breakfast area had huge new coffee carafes, sugar and cream bowls.
All the trekkers topped up here last night.... water, sunscreen, cocoa leaves, lip balm, etc
Good time had by all here last night. Dinner was a bowl of quinoa soup. The locals have a huge noon meal and a very light dinner because of the altitude, takes too long to digest food so trouble sleeping at night. Finally!!!! someone thinks like I do!
Local taxi, really a motorbike with a cart attached on the back
Walking towards the ruins
More forms
Taxi anyone?
still quiet here at 8 am
Beginning to set up the market at the base of the ruins
This little own has has only this one little street in and out, amazing how they accomplish this feat
My guide arrived at 10 and we head down through the Sacred Valley through Maras and Moray.
Next post, returning to Cusco has those photos.
